this is a subliminal test-message

what you “promote” in your site ?

The problem, in simple words, is - again - about use internet as a opportunity to make money from thin air or a system to spread informations.

Basicaly, on world wide web, to make something known, you need to make it visible.
While S.E.s are not friendly with new stuff, giving importance to factors wich practicaly delete any chance of a new-in-the-branch to get seen, the method to show something is to make it linked.

This known, advertising appear as a paid form. Sites managing ads show up and keep appearing. Managing ads, affiliate linkings, promotions, traffic exchange and so on.

On a certain - other, not necessary lower - level, it`s a permanent “to be or not to be” question : make money showing ads-affiliate links or promoting your own products ?

Generaly, on internet, one can`t and also is not at all recommended to cease giving away links. Then, if one choose to stop deliver paid links (read advertising), sould not stop linkingt other resources.

Mark from 45n5 dot com got the idea to stop serving others`s ads as paid links. He think - and we`ll see bellow if is right - he should not send people away to buy or to see some products.

counter options :

First off all, one issue with promoting ads in your site - blog may be that often you can`t decide to open the advertised site in a new window, so that to not loose the visitor of your site.
Once any third party ads open in new window, you don`t loose your visitors.

Next, monetizing your site - blog often require to use paid advertisment as the way to eventualy make some coins as result of generated traffic on your site.
This is a must-be while most of people have not them own product to sell.

pro options :

If someone have his own products, use of third party ads will practicaly reduce the limited “best spot” spaces to promote others`s products instead to promote them own.

Driving your traffic to third partyes`s sites thru ads, specialy for ads promoting different niche, would drive mad your visitors. Yet usualy ads are related to same area of your product(s). Once you are taken as you know what is all about, promoting both your and other product will generate a high rate to send people to see-consider the otherone product - once you promote it, then is good. But you have no connection with that product, except the few bucks in your account.

So to say, if you have your own products to sell, Mark from 45n5 dot com is right, you must get rid of third party ads reff to similar products.

But do not forget to continue give some links to your visitors, as a sign you are NOT thinking you are a guru and know it all.
