very intersting
I`m subscriber to a mailing list operated by a simply great guy named Eric.
His blog link is on left side, “Eric`s tips”.
His latest email has a … intersting subject line.
“Valentin, are you in the Bucuresti area? (let me know either way)”
Hmm .. would he eventually come in Europe and .. doh, c`mon, stop dreaming with open eyes … read the mail ..
Oh .. nice ! Geo-targeted emails .. hehe, that is easy-to-become a “bridge to far” for a marketer and may lead to … unsubscribers or “nothing to say / promote there” … I`ll cover this subject soon on “knocking on wisdom gate” 2 cents posts.
Now, read carefully :
>activate
>status : on
>reason : incoming email alert
>sender : Eric’s Tips
>sender status : read, act at once
>open email
>virus detector status : off
>read email
>reading …
>reading …
>reading …
>end reading email
>action : verify location, open Eric blog, confirm location
>verify location : city Bucuresti(Bucharest) > yes, most of the time
>verify location : country Romania : yes, from to much time
>open Eric`s blog
>confirm location : typing … typing …
>end typing
>action : stand by
>status : stand by
( The bolded above is
“One day from an autoresponder life”. )
Very clevert move, Eric.
Really. I admire THIS your move.
Unespected, great promoted by very intrigue emails`s subject line, cool way to check EXACTLY from where are the ones who REALLY read and DO care about your emails. Plus traffic boost on blog. Plus very cool way to show to ones maybe balancing if you are or not a really great guy (posting the “hit” map on blog post). You are.
Now, here are 2 links related to geo-targeting
link one -
is something to embed on sites and, with the time, get red circles covering areas from where visitors come to your site
link two -
is a simple and probably 90% accurate tool for manually locate ip and / or dns. Is under development but works 24/7.
