Now, back to subject.
What is a niche and how to deal with ?
Let`s start with some definitions :
- A situation or activity specially suited to a person’s interests, abilities, or nature;
- A special area of demand for a product or service;
- A focused, targetable part of a market.
- MARKET NICHE is the unique advantage or benefit a product or service offers a particular group of customers
- A position particularly well suited to the person who occupies it
Well-well ..
Niche seems to be as well related to a person as to a product.
In our “legend”, the blogger is the person or the product ? Content of a blog is the product or the niche ?
Is prefferable for a niche - be it the person or the product - to be very tight (targeted) or better to be larger ?
Niches are NOT related to only making money - marketing, peoples are not necesarely on the net for money-making (yet I don`t know anyone to refuse some cash ..) and some are BLOGGING TOTALY NOT INTERSTED FOR MONEY.
After all, isn`t the “tight-targeted niche or wide niche” issue related to the classical “To know allmost everything about allmost nothing or to know allmost nothing about allmost everything” ?
Is this issue a “to be or not to be” question for bloggers ?
Well, best blog content is the content that :
- make the reader to feel he/she found some answers to his/her questions;
- is a wonder mirror of reader`s espectations;
- slove or give tips how to solve readers problems.
Brief, to be on readers benefit.
Do you want to share (thru blogging) your knowledge and make your readers be happy ?
If you answer yes, you just step forward to deny that blogs are money making tools. Are not. At least are not ONLY for that.
But main reason of a blog is ?
Is it to share with others your toghts, to allow others to ’see’ you and, as an end, to accept you as a member of a community ?
Or to patronize the reader and give him orders ?
Which is better :
- buy this, buy now, buy from me !
or
- you may choose : this is .. and do .. ; that is .. and make .. ; me, I use … because … .
First is the direct way, starting from the point readers TRUST you and are willing to be under your command. Content will be on readers benefit only in measure you are subjective and intersted on the subject. Proves you don`t want partners and friends, you want slaves, followers. You ain`t teach others nothing but how to obey your oredrs.
Second TEACH readers to be able to make decisions on them own. With the risk they wont use your stuff. But with the advantage they wont forget YOU give them the best options and the decision was them. Content is objective related to readers benefit. You want to be in your readers comunities, you treat them as equals and partners, you advice them how and not what to do.
And, the most important, blogs (again) are NOT pure and simple money-making tools.
Blogs are meant to build relations, trust, to enforce communities existances, to share opinions. Blogs are tools, but are tools to build opinions, to empower knowledge, to strenght opinions, to teach, to share, TO GIVE - not to take.
Yet a blog may be monetized and produce also some income - that is the exclusive result of above-paragraph-like content, not the result of blogger value-blogger social position-blogger income. CONTENT is the king, not the writer-author.
