… and read a book
I have a “project” ( the ” are not to mark a “so called” as usually may mean, but is about .. see bellow mark * for more) I plan for very long time.
I`ll start with very ealry age of things.
As if you`ll ask a japanese and an american, they would both claim patriotics to explain amazing japanese industry/economy growt after the world war 2. A “fucking resurseless country, oposing to sudden changes and with cruel-steel hearth ppls” would say a large majority of westerns. After all, what Japan give to world ? Samurai stories (cold blood “killers”), ninja (assasins), sepukku-harakiri (suicide in a bloodly painfull cruel way), mercyless warriors, people ready to die killing “target” … wtf …
sidenote :
Several of war ships of Japan Imperial navy, during world war 2, needed “attention” from US navy, allmost as all german-italian all fleets. Some of named japanese war ships were so old that in US navy would be used as museum … wtf kept those ships floating so much before sinking ?
end of sidenote
There must be something “wrong” with this ppls. Something we (westerners) don`t know or don`t understand. I wonder and asking myself about them so fast revival from 2 atomic bombs dust to top world economy since I was in college. Then I read “Shogun”. Then I find out what bushido means. I have collected info during years about them culture. Reachin to position to think they were not cruel, simply obey the rules … solid rock rules. Fuckin UNBREACKLABLE rules.
But still .. something still missing on this mixture.
I read a lot. Once one “announcing nothing special” book reach to my desk. It was a shallow passing trough social psyhology. One page saved the price of book. I realise that later. There, the famous “nobody ever hear about him” author filled a full page with a “compare management types” issue.
American way : have an idea, start. Modify, grab some more money, hire-involve more specific specialists when need, in short - get job done in 3 months (as example).
Japanese way : have same idea, get together all needed specialists, secure the necessary money, start. In short, time to do … yes, 3 months for same thing.
So, no big deal.
hehe … BIG deal. Japanese`s result is cheaper, softer, smaller and consume less …
Related to American richness compared with the japanese lack of resources, that should be normal. But .. is it ?
No, is not, simply becouse japanese product should not be able to compete the american-europeean fame, glory and … publicity budgets :-), to conclude, should not get known nor become familiar. After all, Japan re-born with US and allies MONEY. Was “Marshall plan” for Japan so much wrong to allowed them (japanese) to break trough ? Hard to belive. For me, at least, so I still wonder and search. Not as a life goal, but whenever I have opportunity.
Comin` back to above “sidenote”, there was a battleship called Musashi. Actually were 3 : Yamato (first one), Musashi and a third never finished. The BIGGEST ever builded battleship. Wow! Japanese and “the biggest” …. What does not fit here ? Admiral Yamamoto, head brain of japanese war fleet had his floating headoffice on Musashi. Yamamoto was a guy who said from beggining that US will smash them eventually. Was a great strategist and once he was shoot down, japanese navy have suffered more in effects than both 2 A bombs efects on all Japan. Reading about this Yamamoto, one question born in my damaged brains :-)) : Yamamoto (the admiral) … Yamato (the battleship) … no, he choosed MUSASHI. Unfuckingbeliveble ! WHY ??!!
not-quite-sidenote
Myamoto Musashi was a samurai. In a not quite united middleage Japan, while small wars happen everytime, while ronins (masterless samurai) walkin all over the Japan whishing to prove them “art of war” or simply looking to have some food … This guy overpassed all. From nobody, he becomed most wanted sparring partner, then the most NOT wanted - he defetead all ones … never been defeated. NEVER. Not even by “unorthodox” methods. Smart, fast, skillfull. One sword, two swords, one challanger or numberless, he allways win.
Hmm .. could thiss Musashi be one of favs of Yamamoto and he choosed the Musashi ship as recognize Musashi as life model and/or beliffs of Japan victory in war ? .. maybe … best explanation, but still does not help me to understand the Japan grow after war .. and continuoslly since then. Remember? - a eartquicks-all-time island, resurceless, defeated, 2 major cities erased ..
Hold a minute … what is this ? “Book of five rings - by Myamoto Musashi” ? Dam, bestseller book in USA after war !!!?????? OH GOD !
Hold, is not so easy. Japan lost the war and … did they lost the war ?
DO JAPAN LOST THE WAR ?
Yes, they lost the MILITARY war.
Do they care about a war or about … a GOAL ?
They win the world. Go get a top 100 richest ppls worldwide list and see how many japanese are there (compare with Japan`s pop and country size too). And see how many they are in boards of even US corp.`s. Japaneses brands are famous everywhere. Allmost on every field, say “is japanese thing” equal “is quality thing”. And so on. They made it. They won. A deep long bow for them.
How they do it ? Folowing Myamoto Musashi`s “book of five rings” book`s advices.
